Ultrasonic flow meters are mainly divided into fixed and portable ultrasonic flow meters based on different application occasions.
We have listed main differences between the two types ultrasonic flow meters below.

(1) Different application occasions
Fixed ultrasonic flow meters are installed in a fixed position and they are used for long-term continuous measurement for the fluid flow within a particular pipeline.  Portable ultrasonic flow meters have great mobility, and they are mainly used for fluid flow within different channels as a temporary measurement or calibration.

(2) Different in part of functions
Fixed ultrasonic flow meters usually have 4-20mA signal output function for remote display, but it can only store one pipeline parameters inside.
Portable ultrasonic flow meters just used to check the temporal flow rate or accumulated flow meter in a short time ,so generally they do not have output signal function.  But in order to facilitate the measurement of flow in different channels, they have a wealth of storage capabilities, and can store dozens of different channels’ parameters, for use at any time.

3) Different power supply
Fixed ultrasonic flow meters require long-term continuous operation, so they usually use 220V AC power supply.
Portable ultrasonic flow meters can either use the on-site AC power, but also with built-in rechargeable battery and can work 8 ~ 12 hours continuously, which greatly facilitates the need for temporary flow measurement in different occasions.
